Best Bet FAQs

Q: Is this really legal?
A: Yes, absolutely – when you do it the Best Bet way! Wisconsin statutes prohibit gambling, but we don’t gamble; we just play games that use similar rules to those you find in a Casino.
Q: As a guest, how do I make the most of the event?
A: Have fun, of course! Take the opportunity to learn a game that you’ve never played (or understood) before… to meet people you haven’t talked with before… or to try a new betting or playing strategy.
The best time to learn games like Craps, Poker, or Roulette is early in the event, while others at the table are also still learning. Ask your dealer lots of questions about the rules, and the strategy… at a Best Bet party, they want you to win too!
Q: Where can Casino Parties be held?
A: Any place with enough space. We have done parties at most local hotel conference centers and banquet facilities, as well as various offices or even home family rooms!
Q: How many tables do we need?
A: It depends on how your guests approach the entertainment. On average, a table for every 12 guests seems about right. (This does NOT provide space for everyone to play at once… but in most groups, some people would rather socialize away from the games.) For some groups, having a table for every 15-20 guests might be enough (especially if the casino games are one of several entertainment choices at the party); for other groups (especially home parties), a table for every 8-10 guests will provide enough room for everyone to play together.
Q: How much space will we need?
A: Most of the games need about 10×10 feet per table. Poker and mini-Craps require about 13×10. The casino-sized Craps table need more space: our 12 foot table uses at least 17×10 feet.
Q: How much will it really cost?
A: Best Bet Casino Party pricing is based on the number of tables included and the specific games chosen. Pricing is also affected by when and where the party is held. The average cost of about $20 per guest is based on a peak-season weekend evening, with an average number and mix of tables, and local to the Fox Valley.
When you get a price quote, it is complete (except your local Sales Tax) based on the available information – no surprises later!
Our busiest season is December thru February, due to holiday parties. Parties held on weeknights and/or during other seasons may get a discount. Parties outside the Fox Valley are priced higher to cover transportation costs.
Q: What do we need to provide?
A: Best Bet brings almost everything you need! You provide whatever prizes you’d like the players to try winning. We do not bring chairs for the seated games – most venues will provide these for free. (For home parties, we have limited folding chairs available.)
Q: How long will we play?
A: The standard gaming time is 2 1/2 hours. In our experience, this is “long enough” for the people who enjoy the games, but not “too long” for those who prefer to socialize. You may design a party with a longer playing time, for an additional charge.
Q: How are prizes awarded?
A: The most common method for awarding prizes to players is a raffle drawing. Many groups use a single raffle drum (which Best Bet provides). Players get tickets based on their success at the games. We draw tickets at the end of the playing time, and allow players to select from the available prizes.
Other groups use a “bag raffle,” where players select the prize(s) they want to win by placing their raffle tickets in a bag or box near the prize. This method has specific advantages and drawbacks.
Finally, some groups base prize awards directly on players success at the games – the guest with the most chips, gets their choice of prizes! This is a great solution for some events, but has significant drawbacks for most parties.
Q: How many prizes should there be?
A: The choice of prizes (number and value) is very dependent on your group’s preferences and expectations. We’ve seen everything from 3 or less prizes, to “a prize for everyone!” The average number of prizes is around 10% of the guest count (for example, if there are 85 guests, 7-9 prizes is common).
Q: What kinds of things make good prizes?
A: Again, this depends on the group. Generally, things that are useful are most appreciated, especially things that the guests aren’t likely to own already. But for some groups, guests will love a spa visit, a home decoration, or a unique article of clothing!
A common choice is Gift Cards to various retailers or restaurants, in amounts appropriate to your budget. (Guests love them because it lets them pick their prize, and you’ll appreciate their portability!)
Q: What if we want to deal the games ourselves?
A: Best Bet will work with you on casino table and equipment rentals, if you prefer. We’ll also provide guidance on making your party successful.
Q: As a host, what else should I do?
A: Arrange the rest of the party, perhaps including refreshments or dinner. (We can help with this!) Bring your prizes to the event. Plan to greet your guests as they arrive, and give them their casino FunBux right away. Then – ENJOY THE PARTY! You can have fun along with the rest of your guests, and give us just a little help when it’s time to draw for prizes.
Q: Why is this our Best Bet?
A:
- Fun dealers – Best Bet Casino Parties uses dealers that we’ve chosen specifically for their mix of skills and personality. We train all our dealers to ensure that you have more risk-free fun than any casino can offer!
- Easy! – We know how to make party arrangements easy for you. Just share the party location and schedule, make a couple decisions about games based on your group, and get your prizes. We’ll work with the staff at your party location – you have nothing to worry about. Plus, this is our full-time job – which makes it easier to contact us or to arrange a meeting.
- Rules adjustments – How can you be sure guests will have fun playing casino games? After all, everyone knows the games are designed so The House Always Wins, right?
Wrong.
We have adjusted the game rules… just a little, to provide a slight edge to the players. It’s not like everyone wins every hand, there’s still an element of chance for excitement… players’ results are a combination of their playing skill and good fortune. We just make it easier to win… and we don’t do it by random cheating (which is always “more fair” to some players than others). - Pro equipment – Best Bet has achieved the perfect balance between heavy “real” Casino tables, and the demands of portability for your party. You’re welcome to visit our warehouse and feel our composite (not plastic!) chips, heavy-weight professional game layouts and padded table rails, and casino-quality cards, dice, dealer shoes, and so on.
- No-surprise pricing – We don’t quote a “cost per table” because that always results in add-ons… delivery charges, setup charges, pit boss charges, and so on. At Best Bet Casino Parties, we work to understand the specific elements that will make your party a success – then we give you a single, complete price. Surprises are risky… Best Bet is Easy!!
- Flexibility – Not sure how many people will attend? We can work with you to flex the count and mix of tables you have, after you place your order… as your guests make reservations and you get a firm idea of the total attendee count.
- Ethics – OK, you really aren’t all that worried about Best Bet’s business ethics. Why do you care that we only deal legal parties, employ our dealers, deduct taxes, collect state sales taxes as required, and so on? Well, you don’t… until you book with a company that is not a responsible member of the community, and they suffer a setback just before your party. Other than that, isn’t it nice to know that you’re working with business professionals?
